Government pledge £16 million to tackle drug dependency and support children in care

Projects that combat drug and alcohol dependency and support children in care will receive more than £16 million, Minister for Sport and Civil Society Tracey Crouch announced today. The money is the first round of funding from the £80 million Life Chances Fund and will: provide specialist services for children in foster care and residential homes help drug and alcohol dependent adults find full-time work, reduce addiction and cut unnecessary A&E admissions. Tesco cuts food waste with greener satsumas and clementines

Tesco has become the first UK supermarket to start selling perfectly ripe greener satsumas and clementines in order to help cut food waste. The move has been prompted by recent higher early season temperatures in Spain where these easy peelers are grown which have slowed down the natural process by which the skin of the fruit turns orange. 2 in 5 LGBT Workers Feel Bullied at Work

As people across the country wear purple in support of GLAAD’s Spirit Day, which is a means of speaking out against LGBTQ bullying and standing with LGBTQ youth, new research indicates that LGBT workers are facing bullying in an area that should be a safe place – their workplace. Two in five LGBT workers (40 percent) report feeling bullied at work, 11 percentage points higher than the national average of all workers combined.
