People in India are sharing fake news stories with nationalistic messages for ‘nation building’ purposes, with consolidation of national identity taking precedence over the need to fact-check a story, new BBC research has found. The finding comes from the first published study analysing the spread of fake news from the perspective of ordinary citizens. 43 Irish companies sign low carbon pledge to cut emissions

In a ground-breaking move today, over 40 of the country’s leading companies have made a dedicated pledge to significantly reduce their carbon emissions. The companies, drawn from many sectors of business and industry, are to cut their carbon emissions between now and 2030.
