Amerisure Tackles Distracted Driving with Yearlong Campaign

Amerisure Insurance is launching a yearlong Distracted Driving Campaign to battle the rising number of distracted driving accidents in the U.S. The campaign is designed to raise awareness of the growing danger to Amerisure’s employees, partner agencies and policyholders, as well as offer solutions to help lessen the number of distracted driving accidents in the country.

Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death in the U.S. In 2016, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that 37,461 people died from vehicle accidents. Roughly ten percent of those accidents are due to distracted driving.

Amerisure’s Distracted Driving Campaign is hoping to change these statistics with monthly articles and social media posts to raise awareness, as well as tools like cell phone blockers and distracted driving company policies. The company’s loss control team also offers a comprehensive telematics program that has already lowered accident rates for some of its policyholders by as much as 50 percent.

“At Amerisure, we consistently communicate the risk of work-related distracted driving,” stated Amerisure Loss Control Vice President Kevin Clary. “We’re teaming with our partner agencies to encourage policyholders across the country to adopt safe driving policies for their companies, both for the safety of their employees and to reduce liability. Our Distracted Driving Campaign was developed to put additional focus on the issue so companies can proactively address the dangers and ultimately reduce this risky behavior.”

Amerisure will be offering distracted driving information and tools on its website throughout its yearlong campaign.
