Barbers Across America Partner with CREMO for the Great American Road Trip, Offering Free Cuts, Shaves and Convos on the Importance of Men’s Mental Health Awareness

With a few days remaining on its cross-country campaign to promote men’s care and men’s mental health awareness, men’s grooming brand CREMO™ met in New York City with media and local barbers about the special cause driving the “Great American Road Trip” mobile tour. With only a few left, the coast-to-coast tour, which originated in Laguna Beach, Calif., will continue from Staten Island to Harlem, N.Y., onto Branford, Conn., and Boston, before ending on September 27, in Saugus, Mass., at George’s Barber Shop, the oldest operating barber shop in the USA.

To amplify the campaign, the men’s grooming brand created the CREMO “Whirlaway,” a fully restored 1948 Spartan Manor that has been transformed into a state-of-the-art barber shop on wheels for the tour. The tricked-out trailer comes complete with a top-of-the-line professional Belmont barber’s chair, sink, refrigerator, a customized bathroom with shower, a comfortable napping/rest space, and a built-in digital production studio. Sure to delight, the CREMO Whirlaway offers visitors free grooming services on a first-come, first-served basis, sparking conversations around men’s mental health awareness and helpful resources.

“This tour has been a life-changing experience for our team, meeting with some of the most talented barbers in America, hearing their stories about their craft and also the meaningful role they play in their community,” said Matthew Biggins, CEO and president of Cremo Company. “We’ve spoken with veterans, servicemen, dads, college kids, small business owners, corporate executives – all different walks of life, but all share similar stories about how their barber has made a difference on their well-being and mental health through the years. We are honored to support our barber shops and thank them for their positive impact on men’s mental health across America.”

More than half of the barbers participating in the “Great American Road Trip” are members of the CREMO Barber Brigade™, a select group of the nation’s top grooming shops. Members receive national and regional resources on men’s mental health, grooming products and exclusive CREMO samples, plus a stipend to use towards the shop’s individual effort to create a more inviting space that supports their community. Brigade members have applied their stipend towards the installation of Wi-Fi, purchasing beverages and snacks for customers to enjoy while visiting, making physical improvements to customer waiting spaces, and investing in programming. With these shop improvements, barbers can sustain an even more welcoming place where customers can gather, open up, and form community and camaraderie.
