CIPR joins government business council

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) is delighted to announce its membership of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS)’s Professional Business Services Council (PBSC).

Established by the BEIS Professional Business Service team, the industry-led council aims to help the professional services sector succeed in the UK. The Council is co-chaired by a BEIS minister.

The UK’s PBS sector is one of the largest and most successful sectors of the British economy and the opportunity to help shape the future of it is an exciting one and one CIPR takes very seriously. The growing nature of the public relations profession warrants our position on the council and we will use our voice to represent the profession as well as assist in communicating the sector as a global success story.
Alastair McCapra, CIPR Chief Executive

The PBSC’s remit it to represent the diversity of professions across the PBS sector in the UK and we warmly welcome CIPR on board as we continue to deliver on this. Furthermore, the council is looking forward to working with CIPR on delivering our objectives to communicate the strength of the PBS sector and the value that it does, and can, deliver – particularly in these challenging times.
Nick Owen, Industry co-chair, Chairman, Deloitte LLP

The CIPR will be working across the PBSC Working Groups with a particular focus on ‘Skills and Inclusion’, ‘Importance of Place’ and ‘PBS Communications’. Any CIPR members interested in this work should contact Senior Policy Officer, Jon Gerlis.
