CIPR seeks senior professionals for Energy Leadership Platform

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) has launched a new think tank for senior communications professionals working across the energy industries.

The purpose of the Energy Leadership Platform (ELP) is to engage with the key issues that matter to the energy industry nationally and internationally. The ELP will create regular and high level content to contribute to the wider energy debate in the UK and globally.

Led by co-chairs Ella Minty Found.Chart.PR, MCIPR and Paddy Blewer MCIPR, the ELP seeks to build a community of qualified senior advisors with significant experience of advising the energy industry.

Ella Minty Found.Chart.PR MCIPR, Co-Chair of the Energy Leadership Platform and CIPR Board Member says: “It’s not often that the members of CIPR specifically request the setting up of a platform for debate, discussion and policy creation. This initiative has been largely set up because of a significant number of requests from our members, working in a variety of roles and sectors in the UK energy industry.

We hope that the Energy Leadership Platform, the first think tank of its kind for the PR industry, will demonstrate the role and influence senior PR practitioners can exert across this fascinating, complex and constantly changing sector.”

Paddy Blewer MCIPR, Co-Chair of the Energy Leadership Platform says:  “One of the joys of energy communications is that in many cases we have a genuinely strategic position, where reputational risk and opportunity is very much part of strategic management decision making process.

We hope that the Energy Leadership Platform will start with communications but also positively position the value of communications with high level industry stakeholders.

The ELP aspiration is for communications to take part in strategic energy debates with the same level of credibility as engineers, financiers, lawyers or geopoliticians – not least because many of us started out in these fields.”

The CIPR is now accepting applications for membership of the Energy Leadership Platform. Applications are particularly welcome from senior PR/Communications practitioners working in the UK’s energy industry: operational, commercial, regulator, services, consulting and academic segments.

Applicants must be CIPR members and hold relevant experience at a strategic level. To register your interest, please email Ella Minty Found.Chart.PR, MCIPR outlining the reason for your application, along with your experience in the energy industry, by Monday 22 January.
