A collaboration between LJ Partnership, the London-based private wealth partnership and real estate investor, and the structures of international businesswoman and philanthropist Elena Baturina has resulted in significant funding to London-based charity, Maggie’s, allowing it to open a new Maggie’s Barts centre at St Bartholomew’s Hospital this year and enabling its Maggie’s Centre at the Royal Marsden Hospital to undergo construction and development work. Maggie’s Centres provide practical, emotional and social support to cancer patients, their family and friends.
Elena Baturina serves as Vice President of Maggie’s and is passionate about its cause. Both she and LJ Partnership hold a similar vision for the way large businesses should support important charitable and socially beneficial projects.
Elena Baturina, said: “It is my firm belief that money is not the goal, but means to make a positive change. I am convinced that business must provide support to vital causes. I hope that our support will allow Maggie’s Centres to help more and more people affected by cancer, whilst also attracting more attention to the problem.”
Andrew Williams, Chairman of LJ Partnership, said: “We feel privileged to work with people who share our views, not only in terms of business strategies, but also social responsibility and important charitable causes. The work that Maggie’s does is vital and we are dedicated to continuing our support.”
Laura Lee, CEO of Maggie’s said: “We are very grateful to LJ Partnership and Elena Baturina for their help in supporting our charity which is so important for cancer patients and their families. The increase in funding has allowed us to open a new centre at St Bartholomew’s and a 2nd Centre start construction at Royal Marsden Hospital. The help we get from our loyal patrons is invaluable to our continuing work allowing Maggie’s to give vital support to people with cancer and their families and friends.”
