Gap brings young people’s stories to life this summer

Prince’s Trust young people have recorded their stories and motivational messages to create an empowering playlist that will be rolled out within Gap stores this summer from today.

Working with Kiss FM presenter Charlie Powell, a group of young people who have been supported through our programmes recorded messages and chose their favourite songs, to inspire Gap‘s first-ever in-store radio campaign – ahead of International Youth Day on 12th August 2019.

The in-store campaign shares young people’s personal experiences to encourage customers to find out more about our work and donate to help the next generation develop the skills they need to live, learn and earn.

Sangwani Harawa, 20, from London, who chose Spirit by J Hus as her inspirational track, said of her experience:

I wanted to share the message about The Prince’s Trust because it can help a lot! It’s helped me with my confidence and speaking to people. Before I didn’t believe in myself or think I had different options. I couldn’t play instruments before and now I can – I’ve learnt so much!

Other empowering tracks on the playlist include: Jess Glynne’s Dont Be So Hard On Yourself; Fuse ODG’s Boa Me; and Little Mix’s Wings.

Rob Kasongo, 26, from London, also said:

“By working with The Prince’s Trust and Gap I’ve learnt it’s okay to be unique and different and shine in your own way. If you believe in yourself anything is possible.”

Pop into your local Gap store to listen to the young people’s messages or log onto Spotify to hear the playlist.
