John Lewis advert’s Moz the Monster raising money for Barnardo’s

A little boy and his cuddly monster friend, Moz the Monster, will help raise funds for Barnardo’s young carers in this year’s eagerly anticipated John Lewis Christmas television ad.

The pair play together every evening, but staying awake through the night starts to take its toll on Joe, who can hardly keep his eyes open during the day.

For Christmas, Joe receives the perfect gift of a night light which helps him finally get some peace and quiet from Moz The Monster, and a good night’s sleep.

Just as you think the ad has come to a close, Joe turns the light back off and hears the familiar rumblings of his friend and is reminded that he can bring Moz The Monster back any time he thinks of him.

Barnardo’s is set to get a boost towards its vital services for young carers as John Lewis will be making a donation from the sale of Moz mugs and Moz cuddly toys.

There will also be Christmas events and story-telling sessions held in John Lewis stores around the country for customers to look forward to.

In 2016/2017, Barnardo’s supported 3,251 young carers aged 5 to 17  who provide care or support to a family member who is sick, disabled, has mental health problems or is misusing substances.

Barnardo’s Chief Executive, Javed Khan said: “We are delighted John Lewis has chosen Barnardo’s as its charity partner and we’re thrilled we’ll be receiving donations from the sale of the Moz cuddly toy featured in the iconic John Lewis festive advert, along with the proceeds from the sale of Moz mugs, menswear Christmas jumpers and Christmas cards.

Every year, thousands of people adore the lovable characters in the brilliant John Lewis adverts, so it’s wonderful that Barnardo’s vital young carers services that support so many children, will benefit from something loved by so many.

John Lewis is also also launching restive fundraising in their stores through events such as storytelling and choirs, and we hope that customers will enjoy taking part.

This is a brilliant and exciting opportunity to raise money to help Barnardo’s continue its vital work supporting hundreds of thousands of the UK’s most vulnerable children, young people, parents and carers across the UK.”
