Pure Blends, has announced that it is tripling-down on its commitment to the health of the planet by joining forces with three top environmentally-focused organizations—the Plant Based Foods Association, 1% For The Planet and the Reducetarian Foundation.
The Plant Based Foods Association is the nation’s leading trade association for plant-based food companies. Together, the two organizations will continue to champion for a fair and competitive marketplace for alternatives to animal products and ingredients.
Additionally, 1% For The Planet is a global movement whose mission is to bring dollars and doers together to accelerate smart environmental giving. Through its membership with 1% For The Planet, Pure Blends will donate one percent of its annual sales to support The Reducetarian Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve human health, protect the environment and spare farm animals from cruelty by reducing the societal consumption of animal products.
“Our mission is to offer consumers plant-based alternatives that taste great, are better for you and are sustainable for the planet,” said Brian Orlando, chief marketing officer of Upfield North America, Pure Blends’ parent company. “Our expansion into avocado and coconut plant butters supports Pure Blends’ commitment to innovation, and our participation with 1% For The Planet will ensure that each sale furthers our mission to put plants first.”
“Nonprofit organizations play a unique and critical role in solving the many challenges facing our planet. Our driving goal is to increase support for these activist organizations by engaging businesses as funders and partners in the work. We believe deeply that by coming together, by connecting dollars with doers, we can create positive solutions to the complex environmental problems of our time,” said Kate Williams, CEO of 1% For The Planet.
Pure Blends’ donation to The Reducetarian Foundation will support the organization’s continued efforts to educate consumers about the positive impact a “reducetarian” diet has on one’s personal health and the environment. Since its founding in 2015, the Reducetarian Foundation’s education efforts have taken a variety of forms, including the publication of two books—The Reducetarian Solution and The Reducetarian Cookbook.
“We are thrilled to partner with Pure Blends on advancing our shared mission for a more sustainable, compassionate, and healthy world,” said Brian Kateman, co-founder and president of the Reducetarian Foundation. “Pure Blends is a natural ally for the Reducetarian movement because their delicious spreads make it easier for everyone to cut back on animal products.”
“Partnering with the Reducetarian Foundation and 1% For The Planet demonstrates our commitment to the growing consumer desire to eat a more plant-based diet,” added Orlando. “Working together with like-minded companies within the Plant Based Foods Association, we can help advance policies that support the plant-based innovations consumers are looking for and encourage retailers to highlight and promote the benefits of plant-based foods.”
“It’s exciting to see large food companies make such a strong commitment to offering plant-based alternatives to consumers. We look forward to working with Pure Blends to ensure the marketplace remains fair and competitive for plant-based foods,” said Michele Simon, executive director of the Plant Based Foods Association.
