Alzheimer’s Research UK, the UK’s leading dementia research charity, has partnered with global leaders, including Bill Gates, to advance the charity’s Early Detection of Neurodegenerative diseases (EDoN) initiative. Bill Gates announces investment to improve Alzheimer’s diagnosis

Leading philanthropist Bill Gates has announced that he is to invest in a new fund designed to bring about improved diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, the most common cause of dementia. Mr Gates made his first investment into dementia research in November 2017 when he put $50m into the Dementia Discovery Fund (DDF), which provides backing for early-stage drug discovery projects around the globe. The Dementia Discovery Fund (DDF) today announces a $50 million investment from Bill Gates. The investment is Gates’ first to accelerate progress toward disease-modifying therapies for Alzheimer’s disease. Mr Gates made the announcement on his blog.
