Boston Tea Party Become First Coffee Chain To Ban Disposable Coffee Cups

An independently owned coffee chain stands to lose over one million pounds intakeaway coffee sales when it bans all single use coffee cups on 1st June this year.  Takeaway hot drinks are 5.2% of Boston Tea Party’s total turnover of £19.8m. Boston Tea Party (BTP), which has 21 cafes across the South West and the Midlands, is asking customers to make the move to reusable cups. RSSB, Network Rail and BTP launch “keep a clear head” campaign

The festive season should be a time of year when everyone can enjoy themselves and have fun. But partygoers are being advised to take extra care as newly-released data from RSSB, Network Rail and British Transport Police (BTP) reveals a sharp increase in the number of alcohol-related incidents across the rail network during the festive period. Of the 7,419 recorded alcohol-related incidents on or around the railway in 2016/17, 16% of those took place over the festive period – between 24 November and 2 January 2017. 21 people have been killed…

Campaign empowers the public to act to prevent suicide on the railways

A new suicide prevention campaign Small Talk Saves Lives aims to give travellers the confidence to act if they notice someone who may be at risk of suicide on or around the rail network. Launched by Samaritans, British Transport Police (BTP) and the rail industry, including Network Rail and the train operating companies, the campaign hopes to save many lives a year.
