Walsall student joins WaterAid in ground-breaking scheme

Zainab Alam, 19 from Walsall, has become one of the UK’s first students enrolled in a degree dedicated to social change. Zainab will split her time between studying at London’s Queen Mary University and working as an apprentice at international charity WaterAid.  It was the problems of local gang violence and drugs that inspired Zainab to seek a career in the charitable sector. Asda works with Drinkaware to offer free alcohol advice to customers

Asda have joined forces with alcohol education charity Drinkaware to provide customers with free information and advice on alcohol. On Friday 12 January, Drinkaware ambassadors were on hand in 100 Asda stores nationwide to hand out thousands of specially-created alcohol assessment scratchcards which use a factual, non-judgmental approach to invite consumers to reflect on their drinking habits. Today America faces a shortage of 60,000 teachers – a number that’s expected to grow to 110,000 by 2021. Only 9% of the top one-third of college graduates pursue a career in teaching.
