Vision

In the medium term, the city will focus on improving learning by strengthening teachers' technical and pedagogical skills in the use of digital platforms and tools; fostering collaborative learning processes that facilitate inter-institutional integration; and promoting entrepreneurship and innovation using an inclusive approach through cultural activities. In the long term, the city will emphasize the formation of strategic partnerships for inclusive, equitable and quality education, as well as expanding the coverage of arts education in vulnerable communities in order to boost family learning.

Life skills training must be permanent, comprehensive, inclusive and sustainable because it prepares human beings for a good life within the family and the community.

Policies, plan and implementation

Sustainability and health
Initiatives involve maintaining clean and secure schools, offering nutrition programmes, delivering counselling services, promoting emotional well-being and preventing health issues. The city also provides sports training, encouraging the community to prioritize both physical and emotional health.
Equity and inclusion
Educational institutions, including universities and vocational schools, ensure access to free and high-quality education. Their programmes cater to various social sectors, including people with disabilities, older adults, women, children, adolescents and young people, ensuring lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Decent work and entrepreneurship
The National Institute of Technology offers technical courses, including certification for experienced workers. Initiatives like the Zero Usury programme support economic opportunities for women, and CO-CREAMOS workshops enhance creative workers’ skills with regard to product design and quality.

Good practices

Hackathon Nicaragua
The city won top prize in the country’s first two National Hackathons in the Beginners and Advanced categories. Proposals were presented that directly contributed to improving the municipality’s economy and development. This led to the transformation of traditional businesses into digital ones, and the creation of mobile applications to strengthen tourism in Estelí.
