Vision

Lille aims to support and empower its citizens for overall autonomy and the development of a shared sustainable culture. In the short term, the city plans to document and consolidate its existing initiatives and partnerships, promote common actions and enhance civic involvement and citizenship education. In the long term, Lille seeks to develop international collaborations within the UNESCO network by leveraging local strengths and resources, and implement transdisciplinary partnerships.

It is by developing knowledge, skills and values that citizens are better equipped to help society to overcome its difficulties, safeguard democracy and fight against determinism.

Policies, plan and implementation

Sustainability and health
Lille is dedicated to sustainability through its ecological initiatives and partnerships. Collaborations with universities are driving ecological transitions. The Local Health Promotion Plan addresses public health and risk prevention, and health-focused projects like Tempoforme foster well-being and research.
Equity and inclusion
Lille allocates a substantial share of its budget to reducing inequalities. Efforts include expanding child care and enhancing child well-being. The city ensures affordable school meals and free school supplies. It also supports refugees, working to foster social justice in challenging socio-economic contexts.
Decent work and entrepreneurship
Lille prioritizes a responsible economy that supports employment and social inclusion, with initiatives like Lille Avenirs focusing on talent preservation and addressing long-term unemployment. Euratechnologies offers expertise in technology, digital innovation and cybersecurity, while university partners aid students in transitioning to the workforce.

Good practices

Schoolyard (Cour d’école)
The project involves allowing children to design their own play spaces, thereby transforming them into places of diversity, learning and calm.
Children’s City (Ville hauteur d‘enfants)
The project aligns with the city’s ambition to use children under the age of 10 as a reference point for implementing municipal public policies. This is the only initiative of its kind in France to share and analyse its usage patterns and best practices.
