Vision

Yaoundé 1er aims to improve access to quality basic education and health care for the population, make it easier to obtain civil status documents, and promote literacy for all. In the longer term, the municipality’s objectives are to improve access to decent employment and vocational training, to develop SMEs, the social economy and crafts, as well as mining and industry in Yaoundé 1er, and to promote the socio-economic integration of young people.

Sustainability and health
Yaoundé 1er is introducing an innovative strategy aimed at optimizing the quality of patient care by employing a comprehensive managerial approach that not only prioritizes health care but also fosters sustainable development.
Equity and inclusion
The council of Yaoundé 1er has set up committees to promote women’s rights and support young people in peacebuilding, conflict prevention and vocational training.
Decent work and entrepreneurship
The council has earmarked a budget to combat youth unemployment by offering training workshops in various trades and promoting the reintegration of young people into the job market. This initiative is part of a partnership with development organizations.

Birth certificates for disadvantaged girls
The council has allocated a budget to provide birth certificates for disadvantaged girls, enabling them to access education.
‘L’opération Zero Plastique et Déchets Ménagers’ (Operation Zero Plastic and Waste)
As part of its hygiene and cleanliness programme, the Yaoundé 1 council has placed particular emphasis on keeping the city clean, with the zero plastic and household waste operation run by the non-governmental organization, B.makala, and its young volunteers, who number 1,400 people divided into 67 teams.
