LUNA® Bar Partners With Journalist Catt Sadler to Empower Women to Negotiate for Equal Pay

LUNA Commits Up to $100,000 to American Association of University Women (AAUW) to Support Salary Negotiation Resources for Women

EMERYVILLE, Calif.--()--It’s 2018 and women are still paid, on average, 20 percent less than men for the same job, and for some women the gender wage gap is even worse. This Equal Pay Day, LUNA® Bar, the first nutrition bar for women, is continuing its fight by teaming up with Journalist Catt Sadler, who recently stood up for equal pay after personally experiencing gender pay disparity, and furthering its commitment to the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Now, through April 14, 2018, LUNA is offering a 20 percent discount on all LUNA Bars sold on LUNABar.com, and will match the discount amount with a donation to AAUW, up to $100,000. The money raised will help fund salary negotiation resources for women.

“Too many experienced, educated, valuable and hardworking women aren’t being compensated fairly. There’s no reason why any woman should be paid less because of gender,” said Catt Sadler. “Equal pay is very simple. It’s about what is right and fair. I’m proud and honored to stand with LUNA Bar to use our voices in the fight for equal pay.”

While there are many contributing factors to the gender wage gap, negotiation stands out as one way women can fight for the fair compensation they deserve; however, only 30 percent1 of women negotiate their salary. With the help of four expert negotiators, including Co-Founder and Creative Director of Shoes of Prey Jodie Fox, Icon Management Sports Agency President and CEO Kimberly Holland, Owner of Juliet Restaurant Katrina Jazayeri and Women Who Code CEO Alaina Percival, Sadler hosts an educational LUNA-sponsored video filled with valuable advice for women on how to effectively negotiate their salary.

Building on the momentum of last year’s successful Equal Pay Day campaign, LUNA continues to be a proud supporter of AAUW, a leader in developing salary negotiation resources for women.

"Women across the country know the wage gap is math, not myth," said Kim Churches, chief executive officer at AAUW. "We're proud to partner with LUNA to offer these effective negotiation resources, we're empowering women from coast to coast with the skills necessary to say, 'enough is enough' when it comes to unequal pay."

AAUW will use the money raised from the LUNA Equal Pay Day campaign to support the development of an immersive and engaging e-Learning solution enabling women to build their confidence and skills in salary and benefits negotiation. “We know how challenging it can be to address an issue as big as pay parity but we want to affect real change through negotiation education,” said Ritu Mathur, LUNA Bar brand director. “All women have it within themselves to fight and negotiate for equal pay. Our hope is that we inspire them with tools and information to impact change in their lives NOW – so we aren’t waiting another 50 years to achieve equal pay.”
