Action Against Hunger launches Together for Ramadan campaign

Action Against Hunger invites UK employers to bring the workplace together this Ramadan through Together for Ramadan, a workplace campaign that combines learning and fundraising to tackle global hunger.

Running throughout Ramadan, expected 17 February –18 March 2026, the campaign encourages organisations to host a shared fast and Iftar, supported by guided learning on Ramadan and Action Against Hunger’s work in countries affected by conflict, climate shocks and food insecurity.

Together for Ramadan is open to everyone, regardless of faith. Employees are encouraged to fundraise throughout the campaign, with opportunities to take part through fasting in solidarity, attending learning sessions, or donating what they would have spent on food and drink. Delivered in line with Islamic giving principles, the campaign enables Muslim colleagues to give Zakat compliantly, supporting life-saving programmes in Muslim-majority countries. Funds raised through the campaign help provide emergency food, therapeutic nutrition for children with severe malnutrition, and cash assistance for families facing hunger due to hunger or climate shocks.

Rumina Ali, Together for Ramadan Campaign Lead at Action Against Hunger, said:

“Ramadan holds deep significance for the Muslim community, centred on compassion and supporting those in need. These values mirror the principles at the heart of Action Against Hunger’s mission.

“Through Together for Ramadan, organisations of all backgrounds can join in that spirit and stand with communities facing hunger.”

Action Against Hunger currently works in 57 countries and reached more than 26.5 million people globally in 2024, responding to emergencies including conflict, displacement and climate-related crises.

Research found that just 30 per cent of employers say their organisation’s leaders are fully committed to building a diverse workforce and religion and belief were a focus for just eight per cent of employers. The campaign is designed to support organisations’ EDI ambitions by recognising Ramadan as a major cultural moment, while offering a practical way for colleagues to act together on shared social issues.

Participating organisations receive a campaign pack with event guidance, learning materials, internal communications templates and fundraising support. Organisations can choose their own event date during Ramadan, host activities in-person or online, and tailor participation to suit their teams.

UK employers interested in taking part in Together for Ramadan 2026 can register their interest now by emailing partnerships@actionagainsthunger.org.uk
