British model, actress and climate advocate Cara Delevingne joins forces with Vattenfall to launch the first-ever “Industrial Emissions Face Mist”. The face mist is a way to highlight one of the solutions to reduce climate emissions, in this case by the use of fossil-free hydrogen. The collaboration between Cara Delevingne and Vattenfall sets out to highlight the importance of fossil free hydrogen, a fuel that emits water instead of carbon dioxide when used. The face mist is made from actual waste water from a factory using fossil-free hydrogen. The emissions…

Vattenfall plans for new hydro power in Sweden
For the first time in twelve years, Vattenfall plans to build new hydro power in four Swedish locations that are already home to hydro power plants. In total, the project will provide 720 megawatts of new hydro capacity, assuming a decision to invest is made. Vattenfall plans for new hydropower with a possible capacity of a total of 720 MW, which could be built starting from 2026 and into the 2030s. Pre studies are now being conducted to prepare for an upcoming investment decision. “It is truly a pleasure…

How can fossil-free offshore wind power and sustainable food be produced – all while improving the marine environment and biodiversity in the same marine area? This is what the new collaboration ‘Win@Sea’ between Danish universities, companies and Vattenfall hopes to investigate. Offshore wind is an efficient and fossil-free energy source, and in recent years many governments have set ambitious targets for an accelerated expansion. What’s more, the demand for food with a low climate footprint is increasing, and the oceans can be a resource here. However, space at sea is…

Vattenfall and Stromma Group are investing in silent, emission-free electric sightseeing boats. Starting with Amsterdam’s canal boats, which will be fully electrified by 2025. The Stromma Group, with operations in six countries and 19 destinations such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki and Stockholm, has entered into a partnership with Vattenfall to electrify Stromma’s boat fleet to provide fossil-free transportation. The first phase of the collaboration will focus on electrifying canal boats in Amsterdam. Vattenfall will supply the battery system for emission-free operation of the city’s canal boats, which will…

In the late summer and early autumn of 2022, Vattenfall successfully conducted large scale seabed surveys with uncrewed surface vessels. The surveys were conducted at several of Vattenfall’s offshore wind farms in Denmark, Sweden and the UK. As a part of operating an offshore wind farm it is necessary to periodically survey the seabed around turbine foundations and substation jacket legs to monitor changes in cable burial depth and scour development. This knowledge is also important for repair and maintenance activities involving jack-up vessels, where legs require a stable seabed…
