Nomad Foods Unveils 9th Annual Sustainability Report Showcasing Progress Through ‘Appetite for a Better World’

Nomad Foods, Europe’s leading frozen food company and owner of brands including Birds Eye, Ledo, iglo, Findus and Frikom, has today published its 2025 sustainability report, outlining latest progress against key commitments and targets. The report covers the period of January to December 2025.

‘Appetite for a Better World’, the company’s sustainability strategy, is built around three pillars – Better Sourcing, Better Nutrition and Better Operations – and is supported by timebound targets aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The publication of the report follows Nomad Foods’ inclusion in the 2026 Dow Jones Best in Class Index Europe for the fifth consecutive year, highlighting the business’ commitment to driving sustainable change.

Report Highlights

Better Sourcing

  • By end of 2025, 99.9% of Nomad Foods’ sourced fish and seafood volumes were MSC- or ASC-certified, growing from 99.6% in 2024.
  • As a result, the proportion of sales volume that was MSC- or ASC-eco-labelled also increased, from 99.3% in 2024 to 99.9% in 2025.
  • In 2025, 97% of sourced vegetables, potatoes, fruit and fresh herbs receiving a score of silver or gold on the SAI Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA), up 2.1% from 2024.
  • In East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, England, UK, 100% of Birds Eye pea growers now hold FSA Silver or Gold status.

Better Operations

  • For its legacy business, Nomad Foods’ absolute Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions were reduced by 41.1% from an existing 2019 baseline, surpassing the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-approved target of a 25% reduction by 2025.
  • Due to lower production volumes than predicted in 2021, the business narrowly missed their intensity target, however still delivered an average reduction of 6.5% year-on-year.
  • All fourteen of Nomad Foods’ legacy factories have transitioned to 100% renewable energy. Building on its 2025 progress, Nomad Foods confirmed that the SBTi has validated its 2050 net-zero target and approved renewed science-based greenhouse gas reduction targets across its operations and supply chain.
  • In the last decade, the business has reduced edible food waste as a proportion of food production by 27.7%, compared with a 2015 baseline, supporting its commitment to halve food waste by 2030.
  • 95.1% of consumer packaging was recyclable in 2025.

Better Nutrition

  • In 2025, 95.9% of branded net sales came from Healthier Meal Choices (HMCs).
  • 99.9% of its branded portfolio is now free from artificial flavour, colourants and taste enhancers.
