Asda Foundation has published its 2024 Impact Report, and revealed it gave 2,603 grants totalling £3,229,392 of funding to enable community groups to address the issues that mattered most in their local communities.
Using grants from the Asda Foundation, grassroot community groups across the UK funded a variety of activities. This included keeping the lights on in community centres at risk of closing, to refurbishing outdoor spaces, to bringing people together to combat isolation and loneliness.
Asda Foundation is funded by an annual donation from Asda. Throughout its 36-year history, Asda Foundation has awarded over £57 million of funding.
In May, Asda Foundation will open the Local Community Spaces Fund with up to £1.25 million of funding available.
The Asda Foundation continues to actively listen to feedback through our Community Tracker Survey to ensure its grant programmes remain aligned with the most urgent and emerging local needs.
One example shared in the 2024 Impact Report includes, food poverty, which was highlighted as a key area of concern. The Asda Foundation therefore made the decision to launch a new Foodbank Fundamentals Grant for organisations focused on distributing food and alleviating food poverty. £265,000 of funding was awarded by the Asda Foundation to 271 food distributors across the UK ahead of the winter months.
Karl Doyle, Chair of the Asda Foundation charity said; “I’m really honoured to be the Chair of Trustees for Asda Foundation and today we share our 2024 Impact Report. It’s days like today that really helps us to showcase the important work we do to help many grassroots groups and charities across the UK.
Thank you to the grassroots groups and charities who work tirelessly to make a positive difference for the people and communities who need it most. We’re proud of everything we’ve achieved together in 2024 and are looking forward to continuing our support for communities across the UK.”
