CDP Introduces AI-Powered Disclosure Feature to Support Faster, Higher-Quality Environmental Reporting

CDP, the global environmental disclosure system, today announced the availability of a new AI-powered “Suggested Response” feature to help organizations respond more efficiently to disclosure requirements. The new tool is powered by technology developed in collaboration with sustainability AI specialist Briink.

This innovation reflects CDP’s continued focus on maintaining the quality, consistency and comparability of global environmental data, while supporting organizations as disclosure requirements expand across markets, sectors and regulatory frameworks. It represents a deliberate step toward reimagining how disclosure can work in an increasingly complex operating environment.

The demand for high-quality environmental disclosure data to assess risk, resilience and transition-readiness continues at pace. In 2025 alone, over 23,000 organizations representing nearly two thirds of global market capitalization, including over 1,000 cities, states, and regions, disclosed their environmental data through CDP.

The new AI-powered “Suggested Response” feature will support disclosing companies to engage with reporting more efficiently, while preserving the rigor, trust, and comparability that define CDP’s approach. Early market testing of the AI-enabled service has demonstrated measurable operational and quality improvements. Organizations reduced disclosure preparation time by an average of 40%, increased response and completion rates by 25% and reported 60% improvement in response depth and coverage.

Sherry Madera, CEO of CDP, said: “CDP was created 25 years ago to bring clarity and comparability to environmental disclosure, and that work has helped shape disclosure practices across global markets. The introduction of CDP’s new AI-powered disclosure tool represents the next phase of that journey – harnessing the power of AI to support organizations at scale, increase reporting simplicity, and deliver greater value from Earth-positive decision making.”

The new feature helps organizations prepare responses to the CDP questionnaire by analyzing information already contained within existing documents such as annual reports, sustainability reports, and other relevant materials. Using AI, the service identifies and extracts relevant information, maps it to the appropriate CDP questions, and generates suggested responses directly within the CDP platform.

In advance of the global feature launch to all disclosers, almost 800 CDP customers with early access are already seeing the benefits as part of the CDP 2026 Disclosure Cycle.

Antonia Wanner, Chief Sustainability Officer, Nestlé, commented: “At Nestlé, the quality and consistency of environmental disclosure is paramount. We welcome CDP’s investment in innovation to strengthen the disclosure process, bringing improved efficiency, allowing us to focus more of our attention on driving impact. As the importance of disclosure continues to grow, harnessing AI to enhance the functionality of CDP disclosure will provide tangible benefits and meaningful time savings. We are pleased to collaborate with CDP as these new capabilities are explored and further developed, ensuring they support robust and reliable reporting for companies now and in the future.”

Matthias Berninger, EVP Public Affairs, Sustainability & Safety, Bayer AG, said: “AI will make CDP reporting more consistent and efficient. Team Bayer will be empowered to focus more on where we can improve our performance by eliminating busy-work which makes disclosure an even more powerful tool of advancing the transformation.”

“Climate disclosure only matters if it leads to action,” said Tomas van der Heijden, CEO and co-founder of Briink. “AI should help lift the reporting burden so sustainability teams can devote more time to improving environmental performance. That’s what we’re building together with CDP.”

Use of the service will be optional, and organizations will retain full responsibility for reviewing, editing, and submitting their responses. The service is designed to support existing workflows and help teams focus on data quality, consistency, and completeness.

Responsible use of artificial intelligence

All AI-supported services will be guided by CDP’s commitment to transparency, accountability and responsible innovation. AI will be used to support human judgement, not replace it, and to strengthen the reliability and usability of disclosed information.

By reducing operational complexity, CDP aims to help organizations devote more time to analyzing and acting on environmental data, supporting better risk management, and more informed strategic decisions.
