Duracell Energy has partnered with Adra to Support Renewable Energy Skills Development at Tŷ Gwyrddfai

Puredrive Energy, the authorised licensee and manufacturer of Duracell Energy home battery storage products, has partnered with Adra, North Wales’ largest housing association, to support the development of renewable energy skills through a new training installation at Tŷ Gwyrddfai, Adra’s pioneering Decarbonisation Centre in Penygroes.

As part of the partnership, Duracell Energy has provided a fully operational renewable energy system that will be used as a hands-on training resource for learners, apprentices and industry professionals developing skills in low-carbon technologies.

Tŷ Gwyrddfai is the UK’s first dedicated decarbonisation centre of its kind, providing training in green construction technologies, retrofit skills and sustainable building solutions. The addition of Duracell Energy’s technology will help trainees gain practical experience with the energy storage and renewable energy systems increasingly being deployed in homes across Wales and the wider UK.

The installation will support Tŷ Gwyrddfai’s mission to develop the skilled workforce needed to deliver Wales’ net zero ambitions. By providing access to real-world renewable energy technology, learners will be able to better understand system design, installation principles and the role that battery storage plays in modern low-carbon homes.

The partnership comes as demand for skilled professionals continues to grow across the renewable energy and retrofit sectors, driven by increasing investment in home decarbonisation, energy efficiency improvements and sustainable housing.

Mark Millar, CEO of Puredrive Energy, an authorised Duracell licensee, said:

“Tŷ Gwyrddfai is playing an important role in developing the skills needed to support the energy transition in Wales. We are delighted to be working with Adra to provide a live renewable energy system that gives learners direct exposure to the technologies they will encounter in the field.

The success of the UK’s decarbonisation ambitions depends on having a skilled workforce that is confident installing and working with renewable energy systems. This partnership allows us to contribute to that goal while supporting the next generation of industry professionals.”

Sion Hughes, Director of Policy and Delivery at Adra, said:

“Tŷ Gwyrddfai was established to help build the skills and knowledge required for a more sustainable future. Working with Duracell Energy enhances the practical training opportunities available at the centre and provides learners with access to industry-leading renewable energy technology.

Partnerships like this help ensure that local people and businesses are equipped with the expertise needed to support Wales’ decarbonisation journey while creating valuable employment opportunities across the region.”

Through the partnership, Puredrive Energy and Adra are helping strengthen the pipeline of skilled professionals entering the renewable energy and retrofit sectors. By combining industry expertise with a purpose-built training environment at Tŷ Gwyrddfai, the organisations aim to support the delivery of more sustainable homes and communities across Wales.
