Ecology Group welcomes Wildwood Ecology to its growing business

Global Ecology and Environmental Group (Ecology Group) has announced today the acquisition of Wildwood Ecology, the first UK ecological consultancy to certify as a B Corp. Founded in 2008, Wildwood Ecology has built a strong reputation as a trusted ecological partner for clients in the architecture, planning consultancy, and local authority sectors.

Testament to their expertise, Wildwood Ecology was consistently crowned Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) Small Consultancy of the Year in 2025, 2023, 2021 and 2019.

The business prides itself on being a force for good and is committed to supporting sustainable development within the built environment, and this stems from Wildwood’s core belief – that having a positive impact on people and planet goes hand-in-hand with building an inclusive working environment for its expert team.

With offices in Caerphilly, Wales, and Stroud, England, Wildwood Ecology have an impressive track record in delivering impact to clients from Wales to Gloucestershire, having worked with clients including the National Trust, Monmouthshire County Council, Yiangou Architects, and McLoughlin Planning.

Wildwood Ecology Managing Director, Richard Dodd said:

“We’re thrilled to join Ecology Group. The Group is well on the way to becoming a market-leader in ecological and environmental consultancy, and the Wildwood team and I are very excited to bring our specialist expertise to this growing, and ambitious business. What’s more, our reputation for providing trusted ecological advice to clients, coupled with our unwavering commitment to positive social and environmental impact enables us to contribute actively, and meaningfully to the Group’s growth and impact.”

Ecology Group recognises that environmental protection is no longer just a conservation issue. Instead, it is a business imperative. This is why the Group is uniting expert consultancies to build a market leader in ecological and environmental consultancy. The acquisition of Wildwood Ecology is pivotal to the Group’s ambition both in terms of services and expertise, and positive impact for business and biodiversity alike.

Ecology Group Chief Financial Officer, Chris Heyes said:

“After a year of huge growth in 2025, we are very excited to welcome Wildwood Ecology to the Group. Since its inception in 2008, the business has established itself as a provider of trusted ecological advice – and in collaboration with the Group team and fellow businesses – Wildwood Ecology will play a critical role in shaping our growth.”

Ecology Group brings together specialist firms with strong foundations in ecology and environmental services to build on their existing success and impact by integrating them into the wider group, while valuing and preserving their unique expertise and services. With this model, Ecology Group invests in the organic growth of each business they bring into the Group, providing the resources and support necessary to enhance their operations, expand their service capabilities, and extend their positive impact.

The acquisition of Wildwood Ecology comes at a time of significant growth for Ecology Group, after five expert consultancies – Burton Reid Associates, Earth Active, Johns Associates, Living Earth, and MKA Ecology, joined the Group last year.
