FareShare awarded $75k grant from Cisco Foundation for FARE Allocation Project

FareShare has been awarded with a $75k grant from Cisco Foundation Regional Grants for its FARE Allocation Project.

The FARE Allocation Project is designed to make our food distribution more equitable and more aligned with the geographical distribution of poverty and other indicators of deprivation across the UK.

It will take official data on various indices of deprivation and ensure we are directing food and other resources to the areas which are currently underserved.

FareShare was nominated for the grant by a Cisco Foundation employee who is a volunteer at FareShare Manchester.

Carl Hawkes, Director of Operations at FareShare, said: “We’re extremely grateful to the Cisco Foundation for providing this generous grant. The FARE Allocation project is particularly important right now as we plan to expand our impact over the next three years.

“This data-driven project will create a system which will consider all the factors involved in allocating food, and combine it with independent data on different indicators of deprivation, ensuring the areas most in need are getting more food to be distributed where it can make the most difference.”

The SSP Foundation is another major funder of this project, playing an integral part of improving the effectiveness and fairness of our work.
