FareShare’s Christmas appeal: Give a family a hot meal

Food poverty is a growing issue in the UK, with one in eight of us regularly going hungry. FareShare redistributes good quality, in date surplus food through a network of 10,000 charities, including domestic violence refuges, food banks and community centres for those on very low incomes. This year, we’ve seen a huge increase in the number of charities supporting children and families.

That’s why our Christmas appeal features Mia, a little girl whose mum, Joanne, worried about putting food on the table.

Lindsey Cape, Head of Fundraising at FareShare said: “Christmas isn’t a magical time if you’re hungry, and, shockingly, thousands of children, like Mia, live in food poverty. With your donations we can get more good quality, healthy surplus food to charities supporting people in crisis, making this Christmas a brighter one for thousands of UK families.

“We’ve even created an ‘alternative Christmas advert’ – showing that, for a struggling family, Christmas can look very different. Just £7 will help FareShare deliver enough fresh, nutritious food to create 28 meals. Please do share our appeal on social media – and remember that every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.”
