Hey 30 Million! Celebrating Hey Girls birthday with biggest milestone yet…

We followed Hey Girls from their inception, and they’ve always held a special place for us as it’s a cause close to our heart and this is so great, the text below is taken from their website here – please check them out and give them support – well done to Hey Girls from us!

Today marks two historic moments for us as a social enterprise. Not only are we celebrating our fifth birthday, we are doing it in style after surpassing our 30 million donations milestone.

That’s right – more than 30 million of our environmentally friendly period products have now been distributed free to our amazing network of more than 250 community partners. And we couldn’t be prouder.

We founded our business as a family who knew too well what it feels like to be affected by period poverty. And we set out to ensure no-one ever has to again.

Our “buy one, donate one” model ensures every purchase made by our fabulous commercial partners and customers are matched with a donation to organisations supporting vulnerable people nationwide. And we couldn’t be more thankful to them.

Today’s achievements have shown just how much we can achieve together – and makes us even more excited for what lies ahead.

Celia Hodson, our CEO and co-founder, said: “All of us are absolutely thrilled to reach such a major milestone.

“In five years we have helped reshape the attitude towards periods in the UK and played our role in breaking the taboo.

“But our work is far from over. The cost of living crisis has seen more people fall into period poverty and they need our help.

“We are incredibly thankful to all our valued customers and supporters for helping us reach 30 million donations – but we won’t be celebrating for long. Now is the time for action.”

Other incredible milestones along our journey include playing a prominent role in the passing of the historic Period Products Act last year. A day that will change the world by inspiring more people worldwide to stand up for what is right.

We know there are so many more historic days to come. Our eyes are now firmly set on Westminster and replicating the successes of the Period Products Act throughout the UK.

Celia added: “So much has changed since we first started – and the passing of the Period Products Act in Scotland is proof that a fairer world is possible.

“That historic day is one that will stay with us forever, but now is the time for the rest of the country to follow suit and achieve period equality once and for all.”
