HPRC Launches Free Healthcare Plastics Recycling Vendor Directory

The Healthcare Plastics Recycling Council is excited to announce the release of its new recycling vendor directory, designed to enable hospitals to build a more complete recycling program and provide recyclers with information about potential new feedstocks. This directory, the results of efforts from HPRC members and partners including Cleveland Clinic, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Practice Greenhealth, and the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS), is a major step towards a more transparent and collaborative recycling value chain.

“We’ve heard from hospitals and healthcare facilities since the founding of HPRC that one of the great challenges of building a strong recycling program is finding the right mix of vendors,” says Peylina Chu, Executive Director of HPRC. “These connections must be made at the local level, and this directory will be an invaluable tool for facilities across the country looking to connect with recyclers interested in their particular materials.”

“This project has truly been a team effort,” says Dr. Ilyssa Gordon, HPRC project leader and Medical Director of the Cleveland Clinic Office for a Healthy Environment. “It’s been so exciting to see hospitals, industry groups, and the public band together to contribute to something for the greater good, I’m excited to see what this new level of transparency will achieve.”

The directory will continue to grow and evolve over time, allowing for vendors to be added and updated as needed, and for hospitals to have increasing visibility over potential partners in their geographic areas.
