In Latin America, Kellanova’s partnerships are helping to fight hunger and create “Mejores Días”

Kellanova have reported on their “Mejores Dias” project in Latin America, enclosed is the artivle from their website here.

Every day at Kellanova, we’re guided by the promise of a day where people are not only fed, but fulfilled. Our ongoing Kellanova Better Days™ Promise efforts, some of which include partnerships with retailers, volunteerism in our local communities, and support of disaster relief efforts, work to advance sustainable and equitable access to food around the world, so we can create #BetterDays for 4 billion people by the end of 2030.

In Latin America, our Better Days Promise, known as “Mejores Días”, is driving meaningful change through innovative partnerships with retailers, local governments, and food banks.

Bringing together purpose and convenience in Mexico
We know we can’t achieve our ambitious Better Days Promise alone. That’s why our company and our brands actively forge partnerships with customers to help ensure access to food for those in need—and create even more #BetterDays.

In 2024, in observance of World Food Day, we partnered with OXXO, Mexico’s largest convenience store chain, on a pioneering creative program to address hunger: building the country’s first-ever retail store linked to a social impact initiative. The pop-up store, built near OXXO’s headquarters in Monterrey, offered visitors a unique way to support those in need while making their daily purchases. In the three weeks the store was open to the public, we achieved the following:

  • Amplified our message and goals across 22,000 OXXO stores across the country.
  • Helped 100,000 families in 30 states through our partnership with BAMX, the largest food bank network in Mexico.
  • Donated nearly 2.4 million servings of food through the sale of 380,000+ specially marked boxes of Zucaritas cereal, online donations, and consumer participation in various activations.

Holistic community programs in Mexico and Guatemala
We believe that hunger, wellbeing, and sustainability are all interconnected. That’s why we launched Better Days to Grow Together (“Mejores Días para Seguir Creciendo Juntos”) in Guatemala and Mexico, a comprehensive social impact program that addresses the myriad social and economic factors that lead to food insecurity. The impact of this program included the following:

  • Started 130 family gardens.
  • Hosted 1,100+ nutrition workshops.
  • Led 240+ physical activity sessions.
  • Donated food, water filters, and food pantries.

Since 2021, the program has benefitted more than 12,000 people in more than 90 communities, including 3,200 mothers and children, with more than half of the latter showing significant improvement in nourishment and growth.

We believe that a key to running a good business is doing good for society. That’s why we’re committed to feeding 400 million people facing food insecurity by the end of 2030 through food donations and feeding programs for children. Learn more on how we’re doing that here.
