Kettle Produce Ltd donates the equivalent of 1 million meals to FareShare

From broccoli and kale to fresh prepared vegetables and salad, Kettle Produce Ltd products provide vital nutrients to our charity network.

And this year marks a terrific milestone for FareShare’s relationship with Kettle Produce – they’ve donated 420 tonnes of food since our relationship began back in 2013.

That’s the equivalent of 1 million meals. This food could have ended up in landfill but instead has filled the plates of hungry people across the country.

Over the last two years their surplus produce has been delivered to over 3500 charities and community groups.

Mainly grown in Scotland, the fresh produce is brilliant quality. In particular the pre-prepared veg is welcomed by groups working with people living without kitchens and relying on their microwave to cook.

Our Commercial Food Officer, Andrea Whipp, says that the Kettle team has shown great commitment to diverting their surplus to FareShare. “Working with the supply chain team we have identified there are times when surplus volumes are smaller.

“This has developed into a regional direct relationship with FareShare Dundee who will respond and collect these small volumes and get them to local groups in Tayside & Fife.”

And working with FareShare has helped Kettle Produce to meet its goals too. As Liz Waugh, Finance Director says: “We are delighted to be working with FareShare, not only are we helping those in need by donating surplus vegetables, we are one step closer to achieving our goal of reducing food waste.”
