Mahindra Rise Partners with Project Nanhi Kali to Launch #EveryGirlMatters Campaign in the United States

Mahindra Rise have announced a new partnership with Project Nanhi Kali, a program that offers quality education to underprivileged young women in India. Together, the organizations will launch the #EveryGirlMatters Campaign, designed to help girls from underprivileged families complete 10+ years of schooling. To date, the project has transformed the lives of over 500,000 girls across 14 states in India.

Mahindra Group is one of the largest and most admired multinational federation of companies with 260,000 employees in over 100 countries. In the United States, Mahindra is a leader in the information technology and farming equipment/utility vehicle sectors. Central to Mahindra’s philosophy are three core values: Accepting No Limits, Alternative Thinking, and Driving Positive Change, which are similarly embraced by Project Nanhi Kali.

Every young woman in the Nanhi Kali Project receives full tuition assistance, access to adaptive learning software via digital tablets, daily academic support provided at Nanhi Kali Academic Support Centres set up within government schools, additional help from trained women tutors, and a school supplies kit.

Accompanying the launch of the campaign is an informational trailer that follows the story of Lajjo, a young girl in an impoverished Indian town who dreams to attend school, but must help her family with important tasks such as farming, preparing food, and tending to her younger siblings. The film illustrates the importance of helping young women across India re-write their destinies.

Sheetal Mehta, Trustee & Executive Director, K.C. Mahindra Education Trust, commented, “At Nanhi Kali, we believe that every girl should be in school. An educated girl lays the foundation of success not only for herself, but also for her family, her community, and the nation. It is not just about the joy of learning, but more importantly, instilling a sense of self-esteem and confidence in the girls.”

Asha Kharga, Chief Customer & Brand Officer, Mahindra Group, stated, “The core purpose of the Mahindra brand is to drive positive change to empower communities, so that they Rise. Nanhi Kali’s impact is proof of our purpose in action. It makes Rise come alive. And hence, it was time to own our story.”

Education is more than a human right: It is a way for so many girls to feel human. To make a donation, visit nanhikali.org
