Marketing community rallies and raises £100,000 for NHS Charities Together

A non-profit making marketing ‘Bible’ has sold more than 5,000 copies, raising over £100,000 for the NHS Charities COVID-19 Appeal. The book, ‘Excerpts from Experts: Marketing’, published by Fortune Hill, was a collaboration that saw over 200 of the UK’s leading marketers and communications professionals contribute chapters to the near 400-page publication.

Spearheaded by Fortune Hill’s Managing Director, Joel Barnett, ‘Excerpts from Experts: Marketing’ was launched in August of 2020 and brought together 227 of the UK’s leading marketers to raise vital funds for NHS workers and their patients affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The book includes more than 5,000 years of cumulative marketing experience and insight from the prominent marketing industry stalwarts such as IKEA, John Lewis, LADBible, Sainsbury’s, Snapchat, Airbnb and Sky.

The £100,000 raised by Fortune Hill will be spread across the trust, funding a vast range of important and necessary assets for staff and patients. This could include:

  • 1,052 counselling sessions for NHS staff
  • 2,000 blood pressure monitors for those who are self-isolating or housebound
  • Seven wellbeing pods for NHS staff to sleep in
  • 2,000 tablets so patients can connect with loved ones

Commenting on this brilliant achievement, Ellie Orton, Chief Executive of NHS Charities Together, said: “We want to say a massive thank you to the team at Fortune Hill, and every author and spokesperson who contributed to share their marketing wisdom and insights to raise money for NHS Charities Together.

“Thank you to everyone who purchased a copy – the amount raised will help fund additional support, both practically and emotionally, for our NHS workers, volunteers and patients.”

Joel Barnett, Founder & Managing Director at Fortune Hill, whose wife is an NHS Doctor, said: “When we started this campaign, I never could have anticipated the amount of support we received since launching.

“I saw first-hand the damage, physically and emotionally, that the coronavirus pandemic was having on our frontline workers, and I wanted to do anything I could to change that.

“However, we wouldn’t be where we are today without the immeasurable love, compassion and kindness so many individuals and businesses have given us by purchasing this book and supporting our mission.

“A special thank you to Sky and Ebay, both of whom bought 1000 copies of the book and donated them to their own charitable causes, the BYP Network and The Princes Trust.”
