New campaign from The Human Milk Foundation

The Human Milk Foundation, a non-profit that provides donor milk to hospital neonatal intensive care units to feed premature and vulnerable babies, has launched a new fundraising campaign.

Much like donated blood, for babies born prematurely donor milk can be life-saving. When mum is too unwell or unable to produce milk, donor milk acts like a medicine to protect the baby against serious conditions.

The COVID-19 pandemic has meant hospitals are requiring significantly more donor milk – premature babies are amongst our most vulnerable at this time due to their immature immune system. The Human Milk Foundation urgently need funds to scale up their operations and meet the rising demand.

£20 would fund donor milk to feed a premature baby for a day, while £100 pays to fully recruit one milk donor – whose milk would feed on average 20 babies.
