Red Consultancy Wins The Creative Shootout 2023

Red Consultancy, a leading integrated communications agency, has been crowned winner of The Creative Shootout 2023 in aid of FoodCycle at Picturehouse Central in London tonight, in the gripping Live Final Show.

Nine finalist agency teams of four had just eight minutes each to pitch back their ideas, that they’d developed earlier in the day, to the live audience and high profile judging panel.

Red Consultancy walks off with FoodCycle as a client and the £10,000 prize, and will now see their idea come to life, backed by a £50,000 media inventory prize from The Guardian and £25,000 from Channel 4. They will also have an audio package from podcast company Acast and a research programme from OnePoll, to further promote the campaign.

FoodCycle, The Creative Shootout’s Charity of the Year, supports communities across the UK, feeds the hungry and provides company and warmth to the lonely, all while using food which would otherwise go to waste. And the nine finalist creative agencies were carefully selected by a high-profile judging panel in late 2022, from entries right across the UK.

The brief given to the finalist agencies at lunchtime was to come up with a campaign in just four hours, that will increase awareness and understanding of who FoodCycle is and what they do, to help the charity establish 100 project locations in the UK by 2025.

The team at Red Consultancy centred their pitch on eliminating the stigmas around sharing food and encouraging communities to talk with their mouth full, in a stunning campaign titled ‘Ummm into Yum’. 2nd place, Raw LDN, impressed both the judges and audience alike with an idea that contextualised the perfect volunteer, while 3rd placed agency, Mischief, pitched a smart campaign idea ‘The Lonely Caterpillar’, which focused on one of FoodCycle’s main objectives, tackling loneliness.

Founder of The Creative Shootout, Johnny Pitt, comments: “The Creative Shootout is the most raw and real creative awards show for charity in the UK. And in our comeback year after Covid, we were single minded on ideas that would create real and lasting change for FoodCycle. Red nailed it and we’re excited to see how they take it on from here.”

Mary McGrath, CEO at FoodCycle, added: “Demand for our services is growing faster than ever, so we urgently need better awareness and understanding of who we are and what we do, to support us as we grow. All of tonight’s finalists blew us away, but Red demonstrated perfectly what we were after. We can’t wait to work together this year.”
