Stanley Black & Decker and Discovery Education Announce 2020 Making for Good Challenge Winners

Stanley Black & Decker and Discovery Education announce the winners of the 2020 Making for Good Challenge. Working in teams of 2-4, high school students nationwide created 60-90 second videos outlining innovative solutions to societal or environmental needs.

The annual challenge builds upon a Stanley Black & Decker and Discovery Education educational program – Innovation Generation – igniting, engaging, and empowering students to become makers through no-cost dynamic digital resources. Through real-world explorations of STEAM, Innovation Generation cultivates students’ collaboration, problem solving, and creative thinking.

The winning 2020 Making for Good Challenge teams and prizing are as follows:

First Prize: $15,000 and an exclusive virtual mentorship with a Stanley Black and Decker employee

– Shivam A., a 9th grader from Shelby County School District in Memphis, TN
– Saksham S., an 11th grader from Germantown Municipal School District in Germantown, TN

Second Place: $10,000 and a Stanley Black and Decker Prize Pack

– AnaMaria P., a 12th grader from Albuquerque Academy in Albuquerque, NM
– Nathan W., a 12th grader from North Colonie Central School District in Latham, NY
– Justin L., an 11th grader from Anaheim Union High School District in Cyprus, CA
– Max D., a 12th grader from Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District in Manlius, NY

Third Place: $5,000 and a Stanley Black and Decker Prize Pack

– Adam B., a 12th grader from Northern Highlands Regional School District in Allendale, NJ
– Matthew K., a 9th grader from Suffern Central School District in Suffern, NY
