One in three parents worried about losing their home as cost-of-living crisis continues to bite

Nearly one in three parents (30%) are worried about being made homeless, and almost half (49%) worry about keeping their home warm for their children, according to new research published by children’s charity Barnardo’s which reveals the latest impacts for families that are struggling financially. Barnardo’s is calling for Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) to be urgently rolled out across England, as growing numbers of children and young people reach crisis point with their mental health.  As Children’s Mental Health Week gets underway, Barnardo’s is urging the Government to commit to expanding its MHST programme across all schools and colleges in England. Banking on Barnardo’s raises over £400,000 to support vulnerable children.

Leaders in the financial sector came together this week to raise £411,000 for the UK’s largest children’s charity Barnardo’s to support their work to help vulnerable children and young people in the UK today. Barnardo’s Scotland appeals for more foster carers as its services see 50% increase in children referred

The UK’s largest children’s charity has launched its annual Fostering Focus campaign, which runs throughout the whole of September, and warns of a growing shortage of foster carers, leaving vulnerable children without safe, stable and loving families.  With latest statistics showing the number of children in care in Scotland now standing at over 14,000, figures released by Barnardo’s show that between August 2021 and July 2022, the number of children referred to its Scotland fostering services was 691.
