Celebrities read adventures of Barnardo’s Big Todd for school children to mark World Book Day
A trio of celebrities have been filmed reading inspiring and encouraging stories for schoolchildren about the adventures of Barnardo’s mascot Big Todd to mark World Book Day. Each digital book features Big Todd, the mascot of Barnardo’s annual Big Toddle pre-school fundraiser, and aims to encourage children to be brave, adventurous, and supportive. The UK’s largest national children’s charity is urging the Government to listen to feedback from its relationship and sex education consultation as the charity celebrates LGBT History Month. Barnardo’s says there must be education about same sex relationships in both secondary and primary school lessons. Leading children’s charity Barnardo’s is celebrating training over 8,000 staff and over 640 parent, community and pupil ambassadors through an anti-homophobic, biphobic and transphobic (HBT) bullying programme. The work, which is funded by the Government Equalities Office and supported by the Department for Education, is in schools across Yorkshire & Humberside.
