Seven new energy and resource saving technologies have secured £4.8m of funding for UK industry trials, with innovations ranging from reusing eggshells to recycling fast fashion garments. These projects are the fourth phase of the Industrial Energy Efficiency Accelerator (IEEA) programme, supported by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, which helps innovators to demonstrate technology for industrial use. Phase 4 winners also include two different pioneering metal working techniques, new ventilation systems, methods for cleaning food manufacturing equipment and concrete technology. Minister for Energy Efficiency and Green…

Global offshore wind industry joins forces with the Carbon Trust to decarbonise and scale up sustainably
The developers design, build and operate wind farms globally, including across Europe, North America and Asia, and collectively represent around a quarter of global installed capacity. They will work in collaboration with the Carbon Trust as part of the new Offshore Wind Sustainability Joint Industry Programme to develop the first industry-backed methodology and guidance to measure and address the carbon emissions associated with offshore wind farms throughout their lifecycle, including emissions from the manufacturing of materials and installation of wind farms. The aim of this work is to help the…

A report assessing the credibility of the Net Zero commitments of the ten highest revenue global beauty and personal care companies shows the sector has a window of opportunity to go further and faster on Net Zero. Despite growing demand for ‘clean’ beauty products, new research has found none of the world’s ten leading beauty brands have independently validated Net Zero targets. It also found three of these companies have failed to publicly commit to reaching Net Zero at all, and at least two reporting a rise in their greenhouse…

Eight cutting-edge technologies, with the potential to save energy, maximise resource efficiency and cut carbon emissions, have won funding for UK industry trials. These winners are the third phase of the BEIS Industrial Energy Efficiency Accelerator (IEEA) programme, which helps innovators scale up technology for industrial use. Phase 3 winners range from a company recovering heat as part of the brewing beer process to another resurfacing roads by recycling old road surfaces in situ. Energy and climate minister Graham Stuart said: “Industrial decarbonisation is essential to delivering green growth and…
