Julia and Hans Rausing, have donated £2.5 million to charities based in Cheshire. The donations have been made to 19 charities providing support across youth care, education, disability, welfare and restoration. The grants represent the couple’s increased focus on giving in the region and reflect Julia Rausing’s (née Delves-Broughton) long family affiliation with east Cheshire. Julia and Hans Rausing have announced grants totalling £2 million to 41 disability charities across the UK. The grants, ranging from £440,000 to £4,000, will support charities of varying sizes meet the challenges of helping those with disabilities amidst the cost-of-living crisis. Research from the Trussell Trust, has shown more than a quarter of disabled people experience food insecurity, which is nearly three times higher than the rate amongst non-disabled people. Julia and Hans Rausing have pledged £3.5 million to the Trussell Trust’s emergency appeal to support its network of 1,300 foodbanks in what is expected to be a particularly difficult winter.
