Plans submitted to renovate Kew’s iconic Palm House into the first net-zero glasshouse of its kind

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew has submitted a planning application to the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames to undertake a landmark renovation of the iconic Palm House and Waterlily House.  The proposed renovation aims to create the first heritage net-zero glasshouses of their kind, conserving two of the UK’s most iconic buildings while radically reimagining their design for a more sustainable future. The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew releases its first Sustainability Strategy, setting out a series of ambitious commitments to rapidly reduce the organisation’s carbon footprint and utilise its trusted voice, alongside its workforce of leading plant scientists and network of global partnerships, to call for the change needed to tackle the environmental emergency.
