Morrisons launch white eggs that ‘give back’ to farmers
Morrisons is introducing a white egg pack to its Chuckle Eggs range. The range is part of its wider ‘For Farmers’ initiative where 6p is given back to farmers per half dozen box of eggs. White eggs have the same nutritional properties as brown eggs and can be used in exactly the same way in cooking. Morrisons announced at the Great Yorkshire Show its collaboration with The Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture (TIAH) to support its farmers on the journey to net zero. As the biggest direct customer of UK agriculture, Morrisons will trial TIAH’s digital platform, part-funded by DEFRA, to help address the skills gaps in agriculture. Morrisons has partnered with Sea Forest, an Earthshot finalist and science-based environmental technology company, to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from beef cattle. Sea Forest will work with Myton Food Group, Morrisons’ manufacturing arm, exclusively to supply SeaFeedTM – its methane abating livestock feed – to help fast track the introduction of lower carbon beef products such as mince, burgers, steaks and joints in Morrisons.
