Taylor Wimpey commit to ambitious climate and nature goals

As part of our commitment to creating a greener, healthier future for customers, colleagues and communities, Taylor Wimpey are proud to announce their new environment strategy, ‘Building a Better World’.

The strategy focuses on the key environmental impacts for our business; climate change, nature, and resources and waste. Taylor Wimpey have made specific commitments to:

  • Increase nature on new developments
  • Achieve science-based carbon reduction target
  • Make it easier for customers to live a more sustainable lifestyle

Taylor Wimpey are pleased to have partnered with two fantastic organisations, Hedgehog Street and insect charity Buglife to help nature thrive at their new developments. Working with Hedgehog Street, they’ll be integrating hedgehog highways across their developments from 2021. Their work with Buglife will see them support the charity’s B-Lines project which is creating ‘insect pathways’ of pollinator-friendly habitats through the UK’s countryside and towns.

Taylor Wimpey have already achieved a 39% reduction in their operational greenhouse gas emissions since 2013 and they are proud to be the first developer in the UK to achieve the Carbon Trust Standard for Carbon. Their new environment strategy builds on this progress and have made further commitments to carbon reduction.

Chief Executive Pete Redfern says: “At Taylor Wimpey our purpose is to build great homes and thriving communities. By launching our environmental strategy and ambitious targets, we aim to play our part in protecting the planet and creating a greener, healthier future for our customers, colleagues and communities. By working with partners Buglife and Hedgehog Street, we will increase nature on our sites making them better places to live for our customers.”
