Water Stewardship Pioneer George Schuler Joins Pacific Institute as Deputy Head for CEO Water Mandate

The Pacific Institute, a US-based global water think tank, today announced that George Schuler has joined the organization as the new Deputy Head for the CEO Water Mandate. The CEO Water Mandate is a partnership between the UN Global Compact and the Pacific Institute to mobilize business leaders on advancing Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) – Clean water and sanitation. In this role, Schuler will drive future strategies of CEO Water Mandate to significantly advance progress on SDG 6 through corporate action during the years ahead. 

With nearly three decades of experience in water sustainability and management, Schuler is uniquely qualified to lead and expand the CEO Water Mandate and the Water Resilience Coalition. His remarkable track record includes directing multi-million dollar water programs and founding Water for Tomorrow Ventures, a startup focused on collaborative water strategies. His leadership in securing over $10 million in funding and spearheading innovative projects solidifies his role as an invaluable asset to the Pacific Institute’s mission. 

“George’s extensive experience and commitment to sustainable water management align perfectly with our goals at the Pacific Institute,” said Jason Morrison, President of the Pacific Institute and Head of CEO Water Mandate. “His visionary approach and leadership will be pivotal as we advance the CEO Water Mandate’s initiatives and strive to make a substantial impact on global water resilience.” 

Schuler’s career highlights include serving as Director of Water at The Nature Conservancy, where he initiated groundbreaking water sustainability projects and fostered collaborative management strategies. His expertise spans scientific research, program evaluation, and advocacy for responsible water use at an international level. 

“I am thrilled to join the Pacific Institute and contribute to transformative water resilience strategies for the CEO Water Mandate,” said Schuler. “The urgency of water sustainability has never been greater. I am enthusiastic about collaborating with the team to develop strategies that tackle existing challenges and ensure future preparedness.” 

George holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science from Allegheny College and a Master of Environmental Studies from Yale University. His role at the Pacific Institute will involve close collaboration with United Nations Global Compact and other key stakeholders to drive progress on SDG 6 and enhance water security globally.
