YMCA calls on young people to register to vote

The YMCA are calling on young people all over the UK to ensure their voices are heard in December’s General Election by registering to vote today. It takes just five minutes to register to vote at the Government’s website. Not sure if you can vote? Visit their guide to registering.

Denise Hatton, Chief Executive of YMCA England & Wales said:

“As we approach this General Election the voices of young people are more important than ever, and yet we find that they are often drowned out or misheard. This needs to change.

“If we want to see decision makers prioritise young people through policies that will positively impact on their lives and prospects, we must ensure these voices are heard loud and clear.

“This starts with young people going online and registering to vote. By signing up today, getting informed about what their local candidates can offer and participating on polling day, young people can make an impact on the result of the election and help ensure that the decisions of the next government reflect what is best for them now and in the future.”

The closing date for registering to vote is Tuesday 26 November. Register online now.
