Sainsbury’s switches laundry detergent from plastic to cardboard while reducing carbon emissions

Sainsbury’s has announced the launch of its new laundry liquid detergent packaging in all stores and online this week, designed to help customers reduce plastic at home. The new packaging will help to save around 22 tonnes of plastic annually. The change is across all own-brand 750ml laundry detergents*, replacing sleeved plastic bottle packaging with cardboard cartons. Samaritans is calling on the Government to invest more in crucial suicide prevention and mental health support as new analysis shows the charity is receiving record numbers of first-time callers worried about finances or unemployment. Wales aims to meet 100% of its electricity needs from renewable sources by 2035

Climate Change Minister Julie James has published a consultation on ‘ambitious but credible’ targets for Wales to meet 100% of its electricity needs from renewable sources by 2035. Wales is already making good progress on previous targets set in 2017 and, already, generates 55% of their electricity from renewables. Enough is enough – sight loss charity calls for urgent funding to improve education support for vision impaired children
