Fundraising Regulator market inquiry findings urge charities to review their subcontracted face-to-face fundraising relationships

The Fundraising Regulator has published the findings of its first market inquiry into the use of subcontracting in face-to-face fundraising by charities and fundraising agencies. The regulator’s recommendation to charities includes that subcontracting firms are monitored more closely and should receive appropriate training. Charities and agencies also need to be satisfied that the payment model for fundraisers is appropriate and does not lead to bad practice. Record £13.9 bn given to charity last year despite dwindling donor numbers

Some of least affluent areas in the country are the most generous, according to CAF’s new research Against the backdrop of household financial pressures, the public generously supported charities across the UK, donating an estimated £13.9 billion to charity last year. This increased from £12.7 billion given in 2022, according to the Charities Aid Foundation’s (CAF) 20th annual UK Giving Report. Virgin Media O2 and environmental charity, Hubbub, are providing hundreds of tablets and smartphones to help people in need get online across the UK with a £400,000 device lending scheme. Tesco and NatWest join forces to help farmers reduce costs and decarbonise
