The Chartered Institute of Public Relations’ (CIPR) Inside Group has published a new guide to support PR professionals in the ethical application of artificial intelligence (AI).
The member-exclusive guide – AI and Digital Ethics for Communicators – is a practical playbook that explores the five responsible and ethical roles communicators play in ensuring ethical AI practice within an organisation is visible, clear, and accountable.
The playbook includes:
- guidance on effective AI prompting
- a list of ethical checks for AI-involved communications tasks
- practical do’s and don’ts
- a lightweight governance kit
- a series of scenario cards for team discussions, training, and on boarding
The use of AI in internal communications has the power to be transformative but, as with all power, it must come with responsibility. This guide offers a practical framework that supports informed, accountable and efficient action so that PR professionals can make the best and ethically-minded decisions when using AI. It is relevant to all PR disciplines with a particular focus on internal communications to support professionals in confidently moving forward with their decision-making. A huge thank you to Frank Dias on the committee for leading this work and to everyone on the committee who contributed to creating this valuable resource.
