Scottish Social Enterprise Hey Girls Unveils Bold Move to Expansive Warehouse Hub

Hey Girls, the pioneering social enterprise on a mission to revolutionise period equality, has made a daring leap to a colossal distribution and packing centre, marking a monumental milestone in its relentless pursuit of societal change.

Founded in 2018, Hey Girls’ mission is to end period poverty in the UK, a Plan UK study published in 2018 found that 1 in 10 women and girls find themselves unable to afford period products from month to month, so Hey Girls set up on a kitchen table and moved into action.

Their brand-new 13,000-square-foot distribution centre, nestled in the heart of Diss on Hoppers Way, signals Hey Girls’ unwavering commitment to amplifying its social and environmental impact and its People and Plant First methodology. This strategic additional location comes as the multi-award-winning not-for-profit gears up to scale its operations, propelling its crusade against period poverty to unprecedented heights.

Hey Girls, spearheaded by the dynamic Multi Award winning Co-founder and Director, Celia Hodson, is renowned for its eco-conscious menstrual products, each purchase triggering a life-changing donation to marginalised communities grappling with period poverty. This audacious move to a warehouse nearly five times the size of its former English base is poised to turbocharge Hey Girls’ capacity to fulfil its mission, significantly bolstering its order processing capabilities.

Celia Hodson, the driving force behind Hey Girls’ meteoric rise, expressed boundless excitement about the transformative potential of the new distribution centre. “We are absolutely thrilled to have moved into this incredible new distribution centre,” remarked Celia. “This new space will allow us to significantly increase our operations and help us in our fight to achieve period equality nationwide.”

Hey Girls’ groundbreaking initiatives have resonated far and wide, garnering widespread acclaim and catalysing a groundswell of support. Collaborating with a myriad of businesses nationwide, Hey Girls has orchestrated the distribution of over 38 million life-changing donations to its extensive network of more than 350 community partners since its inception in 2018.

Bucking conventional business trends, Hey Girls has consistently achieved staggering year-on-year growth, averaging an impressive 59%. This exponential growth trajectory underscores the unwavering demand for Hey Girls’ pioneering approach to menstrual equity. With a diverse and inclusive team of 40 dedicated individuals across two locations in East Lothian Scotland and Norfolk, Hey Girls is poised to revolutionise the landscape of social entrepreneurship by opening up as a “show, tell , think and do space” for their Charity arm My Period and product development arm W/O giving their customers, change and policymakers an opportunity to visit, take part and learn about social enterprise from the outside in.

Looking ahead, Celia envisions the distribution centre as more than just a logistical hub but as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring changemakers. “We would love to teach more people about the amazing power of social enterprises in changing lives,” Celia passionately asserted. “We have so many exciting plans for the future thanks to this new space and cannot wait to get started.”
