Barnardo’s NI sponsor credits to appear during Emmerdale broadcasts on UTV in Northern Ireland

Sponsor credits highlighting the work of children’s charity Barnardo’s NI will appear during each broadcast of Emmerdale on Northern Ireland’s UTV from 15th April 2020.

People’s Postcode Lottery is the new sponsor of long-running soap opera Emmerdale on ITV in England, Scotland and Wales as of 15th April 2020. However, as People’s Postcode Lottery does not operate in Northern Ireland, their branding in the region will be replaced by sponsorship for Barnardo’s NI to showcase the vital work the charity carries out.

UTV, also known as Ulster TV, is the Northern Ireland version of ITV.

The sponsorship bumpers will be shown prior to each episode, before and after each commercial break and at the end of each episode of Emmerdale broadcast on UTV only.

The theme of the  sponsorship will initially be ‘growing up isn’t easy’ and will show a young girl who struggles with anxiety, and the help she receives from a Barnardo’s worker.

Head of Barnardo’s Northern Ireland, Michele Janes, said: “We’re delighted to have the opportunity to highlight the vital work Barnardo’s NI does during broadcasts of one of the nation’s best-loved soap operas.

“We are very grateful to People’s Postcode Lottery and ITV for this unique opportunity.

“This will be hugely helpful in getting our message out to more people so we can continue to support vulnerable children and young people, parents and carers.”

The players of People’s Postcode Lottery have supported Barnardo’s since 2018, raising more than £4.6 million to date for the charity’s crucial work supporting children and young people including those leaving care, experiencing child sexual abuse and mental health issues.
