CAP: Launching CAP Bitesize – learning the ad rules in bitesize chunks

The ASA/CAP have released a post called: CAP: Launching CAP Bitesize – learning the ad rules in bitesize chunks. I have enclosed the text of the link below, but please have a look at the ASA/CAP site as there are lots of things of interest to anyone with an interest in Ethical Marketing.

Last year we delivered over half a million pieces of advice and training through our events, podcasts, webinars and online advice, but we’re always looking for new ways to help people get their ads right first time. That’s why we’re launching CAP Bitesize, our new series of videos aimed at helping small and medium businesses learn the ad rules – it’s a chance to get guidance on the advertising codes from the people who write them.

Our first series focuses on promotional marketing, such as give-aways, prize draws and competitions. Each year, we receive thousands of complaints about companies changing the closing dates for their competitions, failing to award prizes fairly, missing crucial T&Cs and much more. So we set out to create free, quick and easy to understand videos that give businesses all the information they need to run their prize promotions fairly.

You can find all the videos on our CAP Bitesize page, but here’s the first one to get you started.

The rest of the series covers:

  • Awarding prizes
  • Terms and conditions
  • Closing dates, and
  • Picking a winner

In each case we set out what you need to know to get started, with handy links to other online guidance if you still want to know more.

Be sure to check out the full series, available on our CAP Bitesize page, and keep an eye out for more handy videos coming soon.
